An Indian Summer?

I love you the best

Better than all the rest

I love you the best

Better than all the rest

That I met in that summer

Indian summer

I love you the best

Better than all the rest

Of course, without the music, Krieger's hauting slide, and Manzarek blues based keyboards, and Johm Desmores stick work its does not have the magic, but this 'Indian Sumer of ours', is both needed, and sad as we have not had much of a summer, and I think that makes the current weather a tad more sad, even though we are also loving it.

As you can see above we hae a fruit, of the 'summer', but where are the rest, there should be at least 10, not 1.

OK I confess, I'm a bit of a grump at the mo, but I'm in pain, and there fore its ok.

Some creatures are having more fun.

Well its a chilli tatsing tommorrow, the penultimate one. Next weekend will be the big one, should be the big one, hopefully the gang from Dorset will pop up, if they can drag themselves away form the beach.
As I gaze to my right, through the glass, I can see the sun sinking out of sight, as it departs us, there is a chill comming down, and a hint of mist rolling through the valley. Time for a hot bath, followed by a garlic burger.

A nice day for the end of the world

A bright sunny morning greeted the doomsayers, and I'm not sure where my feelings lay, I do know that after an early breakfast, it was still there, so I went back to bed.
What i think is more important is where has the summer gone? And for those that follow tings this is being written to the sounds of the Bonzo Dog Do Da Band., more importantly a special edition of Gorilla, with a considerable amount of bonus material. Good show. Now where is the Viv Stanshall box set of the Radio !, (John Peel Session) come on Beeb; pull yourselves together.
Sir Henry will be after, pistol in one hand, large gin in the other.
It wa sthe Tomato Show on the weekend, we enjoyed the journey down there, and once the stand was up, the wind and rain kicked in, and carried on all day. I should be grateful, the weather decided to reward a wizard such as myself, by saving the heaviest downpour to when were on the road, shame about the drongoloids who isisted on driving at over 70 mph when we amart ones were doing 45 mph in the slow lane. Still we realised some point on the A303 that there were no more cars following, which made us think that they had caused a prang, stupid *******. I hope they only hurt them selves

Halagoogoo-googlygoo-goo

I think the title says it all, but I shall continue. That wa slast week, I saved the pennies and crept into Moles, (Bath), to see the 'Googoo's, who happen to be one of the best up and coming bands in the country, so have a look at them on myspace! I saw them at Emporium, way back in November, or was it December. Good enough to get an old fart like me dancing. Also good for the interestingly drunken behaviour from good old RubyRoo.

OK thats the fun over, back to work, we had our last tomato tasting, well thats our last full tom tasting, we'll still have toms for tasting next time, but the chillies will be centre stage. They are slowly beginnning to mature, but the sun levels are down by 40%, well thats according to the Met Office.

Normally these posts are written to the soundtrack of some decent music, this time is the sound of the oven timer, which will soon be replaced by the sound of my gravy bubbling down.

So its time to go, and this months photo is going to be some saussies, in the hope that the summer will continue........

The Chilly Chilli Fiesta

Well now, the weather for the first time was a bit nasty. I have to offer the beebs weather chaps and chappesses, for being spot on, alomst to the minute. They said the rain would begin in mid morning, and as the doors opened at 10.00am, so the rain began. But this is England, and the 'Dunkirk' spirit kicked in.

Dress rehearsals in the days leading up to the fiesta meant that we had none of last minute worries that have plagued other fiesta's. Like previous years, we were in a pretty good pitch, next to the people form Fear The Chilli, who are not Defra registered and, oh better not go down that route.

Jo shone like the star that she is and organised the seeds into racks, whilst I did my best to drill holes in my thumbs and maim myself. We were especially pleased that we took some rolls of plastic sheeting along with us, the initial idea had been to cover the stucture of the stand, so the packets stood out. It had the added effect of screening the wind, and the rain. To ensure that those who kindly spent money on the Saturday, we had kindly packed lots of zip lock bags.

The Sunday was nicer weather wise, and the crowds were as much as four times the size, but for some strange reason, we felt as if we were quiet in the afternoon, to rectify this, we took turns exploring the fiesta, blatantly using our status as senior exhibitors to get as many deals as possible.

Here's a few more photos.

Sorry folks; no 'Yibby Yibbida'

Well, those of you who recognise the title, will understand. It refers to the lack of old Bertie Barble appearance on the river bank, although I have to say that JP managed tpo hook one of these beasts.

Oh by the way, this blog is being typed in a rain shower, too humid for fun, and sadly no thunder, something we have been short of, too short I say. And currently playing is some very ambient music, going by the title of 'Cascade'.

The picture is the lovel weir at Claverton, just outside of Bath, where the Kingfishers have more success than me. Still we shall not be put of by the fishes refusing to co-operate. We can't blame them, they are basically dumb beasts, its just a little off putting being outwitted by a fish....However I can say that I have smashed my PB in the Chub department. Sadly being ba summer fish it was lean and not at all 'chubby', still a greedy bugger.

I am also a little disapointed with the clouds, they have looked good, I can't deny that, its just they have not done what they promised, and I find that a bit frustrating, although they did give Frome a good rinse, and that can't be a bad thing.

The Beast From Crockerton.
Well, Sunday a couple of weeks ago was when it all went right, I popped down to the lake, after a couple of false starts, such as forgetting the unhooking mat, then nearly there when I realised that I also forgotton my Ventalin. Life eh, but we are meant to over come these challenges, and like a hero of old, I soldiered on. Settle in to no 15, a pitch where I had lost something with some power to it previously, I used a technique pioneered at Charts Plain back in the '98, or there abouts. First fish was my forst doubole from the lake, a lovely common, second was a couple of ounces under the magic 10lb morak, a brace of lovely red eyed 'tinca's', then my second double, just 4oz over the magic line, but not too be sniffed at. I felt eleated, and decided that I should go soon, as to avoid having the session ruined by catching a bream. One of those slimey beasts can ruin your whole day. I brought the right hand rod in, and kept going with the Avon Special, with the Charts Plain method, I decied on one final cast, was it the spirit of old Issac? Methinks so. So quickl;y did the float slide away, I thought that the settings had somehow changed themselves, but on raising the rod tip, it bent double and something very powerful was one the end, it chatged out into the centre of tke lake, I gave thanks to the piscatorial gods that it avoided the mess of alder roots on either side of me. The beast proceed to turn around in circles in front of me, each time it came within range,a large tail flapped on the surface, and gave me a soaking. It was like a cooling shower in the midst of a July heatwave, and when it slid over the rim of the net I knew I had a new pb, but by how much. I had weighed the net, and it came in at 2.8.0, but that is always a slightly dodgy measure, and saturation and dripping can effect accuracy 10oz better than the old record, which came from Little Shearwater.

I promise I shall drown myself in Mysticated Wine

Ah the words of James Douglas Morrison.
Well, this is the unteempth attenpt to post my second blog, everytime I try to post some pictures my computer throws an electric wobbly and locks up.
Enough of that talk, this blog is being written to the delicate sounds of the Doors Conncerto, by Nigel Kennedy, original music by the Doors of course.
So we'll begin, I had a pretty good haul at the Village Fayre, despite leaving after 20 minutes. I used the excuse of rain on my glasses. The show looked pretty good, the 4 big boxes pof plants I delivered livened up the plant stand, and I very generously helped set up the stand before the show opened. My skill(?) with a camera has been put into practice, I took a few snaps of the Fayre, the photo of Lord Bath looks as if he has been caught with a ***** ***** ********** **** **** ** ***** ***, mind you with his 'lifestyle' he would not be embrassed.
Facebook has shown its true value, I got into contact with an Aussie fella who I spent a great deal of time in the Duttons Cottage emporium of the mind.
I have also been involved in the local music scene, by filmiong one of Thelittlegirlblues gigs at a new venue in Frome. I spoke to the promoter about filming gigs at the venue, and lo and behold they were interested. We'll see where it goes. Confessio, I should have been there tonight, but with the bad weather forcast, I spennt this evening slaving away in the garden at home, planting a hedge of hardy fushia, Monelli along with making of what is turning out to be a rather comlex raised bed. I have the plants ready for this bed, plus a whole buch of Lychnis, which I traded for a fish. I have many plants waiting, such as a wonderful Wisteria, and I've also set up some hanging baskets, with some basic nasturtiums. They might dry out quick but they should look good and feed the butterflies. On the subject of butterflies, I have set up some cuttings of a lovely Orange Buddlea, I know there should ne an 'H' in there, but can't quite remeber where it should go.
Must dash. There is an app on facebook which my Assie partners in crime told me about, the Shakesperean Insult Generator. Loads of fun, if I have any friends left.

In the beginnning.......

Well now, this is my first attempt at a blog, I should be doing something else, but have been ;looking at a friends blogg, and decied that I really out to try to modernise. So I'm talking to myself in a 'Southern Drawl', listening to Canned Heat...and why not?

So why not sit back and meditate for a moment... there now feel better?

So, in order of no importance, I have begun filming gigs again, and it seems to be doing the magic again, the Badgergirls band 'Slovakia' and Miss Hot Banana aka Ruby Brown, have been filmed, and footage will no doubt be availiable for public viewing on their respective mysapce sites.

But the real fun and games was at the Weekend, our 4th Great Chilli Event, and wouyld you believe it baby, it wern't so bad, despite the wind, rain and screaming children. No body threatened me with violence, and I only had to make passing comments about public flogging to make parent rope their ofspring in...

But now I have many things to do, I picked up two new polytunnels a little while ago, they need to go up, I have to finnish digging a big hole in the garden, for the pond..theres a while load of chillies to be potted up and given a whole lotta love, you know what I mean.....

One of the plus's about this time of the year is that I can creep of for long walks so heres a couple of snaps I have taken on the little phone cam, which behaves badly when I want to put pics on the hard drives, oh for scissors and selotape...
